Alison Hammond has shared her excitement about her latest television endeavour, describing it as "wonderful" and akin to "therapy". The 50 year old television personality is gearing up for the second series of ITV's For the Love of Dogs with Alison Hammond, set to premiere on 1 April. She stepped into the role following the sad passing of the original host, Paul O'Grady, in 2023.

To drum up anticipation for the upcoming season, Alison joined Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden on Heart Breakfast on Friday, 28 March, where she offered a sneak peek into the show and expressed her joy at being its presenter. "Oh gosh, it's wonderful. It's like therapy," she confided to Amanda and Jamie. "When I go to Battersea, it's my therapy, where I get all my cuddles, all my love from the dogs."

She went on: "They're absolutely beautiful. There are some tear-jerking stories, there are some loopy dogs out there as well who are crazy!

"But you know what, I'm armed with my snacks. I've got my chicken, and I'm all over them. And do you know what? I've had such a lovely series."

Alison also disclosed that in the new series, one dog named Woody is sent to work with the Ministry of Defence, and she joked about becoming a "dog guru" through her experiences on the popular ITV programme, reports Birmingham Live.

"I get the kisses, I get everything. I get all the love that I need and then I go home," she affectionately concluded.

Alison dives into the heart of canine care in For the Love of Dogs, as she ventures into Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London, passionately working to secure forever homes for the rescue dogs.

In the new six-part series, she rolls up her sleeves to assist with the dogs' walking, feeding, and training, joining forces with the knowledgeable staff and dedicated volunteers at Battersea.

Ahead of the second series premiere, Alison has shared her enthusiasm for For the Love of Dogs, appealing to all dog enthusiasts to indulge in the program.

"We're a nation of dog lovers, so this show is for everybody. You know, if you're thinking about getting a dog, you're going to love this show," she enthused. "If you're thinking about fostering, you're going to love this show. This show is universal. It's for absolutely everybody who wants to be around the love and loyalty these beautiful animals give us."
