Amanda Abbington was all smiles as she stepped out after confessing that she would love to join Loose Women. The actress, 51, was spotted leaving the Kings Head Theatre in Islington, London, where she is starring as Esther in (This Is Not A) Happy Room.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star beamed as she walked out of the theatre following her first preview night. She cut a casual figure in a pair of blue wide leg jeans and a black top with a lion printed on the front.

She teamed the ensemble with a black blazer and pair of high top trainers. The Sherlock star made sure to keep warm as she donned a white beanie as she carried her phone and glasses in her hand.

Amanda's appearance comes shortly after admitting that she would love to sit on the Loose Women panel. Asked if she would take on the show, the Mr Selfridge star instantly agreed.

"Yes, totally. It's nice to have women's views on things, and I think as long as we don't paint ourselves as miserable old hags," she told The Sun. "I think women of a certain age tend to get painted as miserable and moaning and complaining, and I think it would be good to get up there and have fun."

Amanda added: "They're great women, and I know a few of them, like Denise [Welch], I love her." The mum-of-two is clearly hoping to put the past behind her following a turbulent year which saw her at the centre of one of Strictly Come Dancing's biggest ever scandals.

Back in 2023, Amanda abruptly quit the show just five weeks in, citing "personal reasons" for her departure. However, more than six months later, she accused her dance partner Giovanni Pernice of "unnecessary, cruel and mean behaviour" during their time together on the show. Giovanni denied all the claims.

The scandal led to an investigation by the BBC and saw Giovanni, 34, step down from Strictly after nine years.

Amanda faced heavy backlash after going public with the accusations, revealing she was subjected to "20 to 30 death threats a day". In a recent interview with The Times, Amanda admitted that she's unsure if the public still "like" her anymore as she reflected on the aftermath of the bullying row.

Although she believes she was made out to be the "villain", Amanda insisted she has "no regrets" about coming forward and standing up for herself.

She said: "I don't know what the industry thinks of me at the moment. I've been immersed in the aftermath of it all for a year. I don't know whether I've been cancelled or whether people don't like me any more, but I know I did what I did for the right reasons. I feel good about the future."

Meanwhile Giovanni's career appears to be heading in the right direction as the professional dancer was recently crowned the winner of the Italian version of Strictly Come Dancing.
