Prince Harry was informed of King Charles's brief hospital visit after suffering from side effects from his cancer treatment at the same time as the rest of the world, it has been claimed. The Duke of Sussex has been estranged from the Royal Family for several years now, following his decision to quit the Firm and move to the US with his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2020. Monday will mark the fifth anniversary of Megxit.

Harry dashed back home for a little over 24 hours last year when it was announced that the monarch was diagnosed with a type of cancer last year. The duke had a brief meeting with his father at Clarence House before he jetted off back to the US. Now it looks like the duke only found out about his father's latest health update through the media when it was announced publicly to the rest of the world late Thursday evening. Buckingham Palace announced that Charles "required a short period of observation in hospital" after experiencing side effects from his cancer treatment.

But they said that he was back recuperating at Clarence House the same night and had to postpone his engagements on Friday to "prioritise his recovery". The King is now at Highgrove, his Gloucestershire home.

Insiders have claimed that Harry feels "lonelier than ever" in Montecito as his father's health struggles continue and his wife focuses on her own business ventures.

They told The Sun: "First he was a spare to William, now he’s increasingly looking like a spare to Meghan — and it’s not a great look."

The outlet claimed that the duke was not told about his father's hospital admission reportedly because the Palace did not want to "cause unnecessary alarm".

A friend said: "He [Prince Harry] misses his family terribly, but no one is speaking to him any more.

"He just wants to go for a beer with the guys, but his only friends are just the husbands of Meghan’s friends."

Following his trip back to England last year, the duke appeared on Good Morning America where he declared: "I love my family".
