Are you still on the lookout for your first summer holiday but unsure of where to jet off to? As the weather continues to be unpredictable in the UK and the price of a pint seemingly increases by the day, a lot of travellers just want to relax in the sun with a nice, cold, cheap pint.
Searches for ‘summer holiday’ soared by 103 percent in the last quarter in the UK, indicating many Brits are desperate to escape the cold. But what is one of the most important factors when considering where to book? For Brits, it might just be where you can expect the cheapest beer.
With this in mind, online holiday provider Travel Republic has analysed data from the most popular holiday destinations to discover which European holiday destination has the cheapest beer to help Brits decide where to visit next.
Spain has long been a favourite destination for UK holidaymakers but those more inclined to hop from pub to pub often settle for Alicante or other familar favourites.
But, the sunny nation's capital, Madrid, can often be overlooked for its cheap pints and plentiful British and Irish bars to make you feel at home, minus the bad weather.
There are 24 of these spots in the city, according to Travel Republic, serving pints for an average of £2.30 for domestic draughts and £3.31 for imported tipples, making it an ideal escape for those yet to book their getaway.
As a landlocked city, Madrid might not offer stunning beaches like some of its Spanish counterparts, but the city is well-known for its iconic sights and culture.
It boasts plenty of museums including the Museo Nacional del Prado, the country's national museum, as well as other sights such as the Royal Palace.
Madrid enjoys highs of between 28C and 32C throughout its summer months.
