Whether people realise it or not, airports are a really important part of travellers' holiday experiences as the airport is the first place of their destination you step foot in. For many, it can really set the tone of the holiday, which is why many countries spend millions making their airports stand out. However, according to travel vlogger Karl Rock, one particular airport shines out of tens of thousands of airports across the globe after he branded it as the "world's most beautiful".

In the YouTube short video, he asks viewers, "Have you ever seen an airport like this?" as he reveals scenes of a modern terminal with hanging plants, lush green walls, and an indoor waterfall. "I feel like I'm in Singapore or Dubai here," Karl adds as he walks through the lavish terminal.

The airport in question is Kempegowda International Airport, which serves Bengaluru, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. What the vlogger specifically shows is the airport's Terminal 2, which began operations in January 2023.

Sharing the same video on Instagram, the vlogger praised the terminal in the caption. He wrote: "The terminal's design seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetic appeal, featuring spacious interiors flooded with natural light and efficient passenger flow systems.

"Boasting state-of-the-art technology and sustainable features, Terminal 2 enhances the airport experience for travellers while minimising environmental impact.

"Its modern design pays homage to local culture and history, reflecting Bengaluru's dynamic spirit and aspirations as a global hub."

The stunning terminal was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, a Chicago-based architectural, urban planning and engineering firm, in tribute to Bengaluru being recognised as the 'Garden City'.

It is spread across a huge 255,000 square metres area, designed to accommodate up to 25 million passengers annually. Tourists who pass through the airport will be taken aback by the gorgeous architecture and nature that make up the terminal.

There is a second phase of construction for Terminal 2, which is planned to increase the capacity by an additional 20 million passengers per annum. It is expected to be completed in 2028.
