A former Miss Wales finalist, Vicky Curtis-Cresswell, won a £6million luxury mansion in Norfolk through the Omaze prize draw, but is now faced with a local council planning row. Vicky, 38, was living with her husband Dale, 41, and their young daughter in her in-law's three-bedroom house in Wales when she found out she won.

The New England-style coastal property, inspired by Cape Cod and Hamptons architecture, is the most valuable property ever offered in a UK prize draw - and it is the first home Vicky has ever owned. It boasts a stunning wrap-around balcony with panoramic views of the North Norfolk Coast, a heated swimming pool, and an all-weather astroturf tennis court. The house comes mortgage-free, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered. Additionally, Vicky received a hefty £250,000 in cash to help her settle in.

However, the mansion is now at the heart of an unresolved planning row between Omaze and North Norfolk District Council. The local authority found that Vicky’s new home breaches planning rules due to not being built in line with the original approved application in 2020.

Omaze is now working with the body to resolve the issue, as “no house winner will ever be required to cover any costs related to resolving historic planning issues,” a spokesperson said.

Vikcy can choose to live in the house, rent it out for extra income, or sell it to become a cash multimillionaire. If she decides to keep the luxurious property, Omaze estimates that the £250,000 would allow her to comfortably maintain the house for nearly ten years.

The house also includes £165,000 worth of furnishings, ready for Vicky to enjoy from the day she receives the keys. If she chooses to rent it out, local estate agents estimate that the property could fetch a long-term rental value of £5,500 per month.

Upon winning, the former Miss Wales contestant said she was left "absolutely flabbergasted”. "When Omaze first called to tell me I'd won a prize, I didn't dare dream it could be the house,” she said.

“We were all so excited, I asked my daughter if she thought we'd won the house, and she said yes, I should've known we'd won the Grand Prize there and then as she's always right!

"When the Omaze film crew turned up outside our house, I started to think it might be the house, but it's just too big a thing to even imagine.

"The neighbours were all chatting away on the street's WhatsApp group, when they saw the cameras they joked that they thought it was probably Crime Watch! Then in a matter of seconds our lives changed forever and we became multi-millionaires.”
