Sir Elton John has candidly shared his reflections on life, family, and the fear of mortality. Speaking to 'CBS News Sunday Morning', the iconic musician, who has children Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 11, with his husband David Furnish, discussed the personal meaning behind his new track 'Never Too Late' with Brandi Carlile, which delves into his storied partnership with Bernie Taupin.
Sir Elton said: "It's a song that's just as much about Bernie as it is about me. It's about both of us and how wonderful our love and friendship has been and our songwriting, what we've done and what we've achieved." Despite not being one for sentimentality, Sir Elton admits he's been thinking more about his own mortality: "I can't imagine my life without him in it. When you get to a certain age...I'm not sentimental at all but suddenly you think 'I don't ever...I want my boys to be in my life forever, I want David to be my my life."
The beloved pop legend was struck with a severe infection, leading to the loss of vision in his right eye. Just weeks ago, The Sun's Bizarre column exposed that he's been compelled to "simplify" his famed autograph for fans clamouring for signed copies of his latest musical offering 'Who Believes In Angels?' Nowadays, the 'Crocodile Rock' superstar will merely inscribe his initial 'E', followed by an 'X' symbolising a kiss.
