The boss of a charity founded by Prince Harry has spoken out about an awkward moment she experienced with Meghan Markle at a charity polo event. Over the last few days Prince Harry, 40, and the Sentebale charity he cofounded with Prince Seeiso, has been making headlines after the duke stepped down from the charity following failed calls for the chairman Dr Sophie Chandauka to resign.

However, since he confirmed he will no longer be involved with the charity, Dr Chandauka has taken to verbally slamming the prince and has even gone as far as to accuse him of “harassment and bullying at scale” - allegations which have been denied. The chair has also spoken out on ways she believed the prince had caused setbacks for the charity, in particular by referencing one polo event which faced some last-minute problems after Harry decided to bring Netflix camera crews along. Not only did this result in a change in venue, but Dr Chandauka also said it resulted in an awkward moment between her and Harry’s wife Meghan.

Talking about the fundraising polo event in Miami last year, Dr Chandauka said: “We had a very generous family that was happy for us to use their polo grounds at a material discount. And then, about a month before the event was about to take place, Prince Harry called the team and said: ‘I’m doing a Netflix show, and I would love to bring a camera crew.”

This meant that the original venue for the event put up its price, which the charity could not afford.

Another venue then had to be found to host the event, however this change meant that things weren’t as well-planned as they could have been.

This is because Meghan turned up at the event and took to the stage, which was not big enough for everyone. It resulted in an awkward moment that was played out in front of the press, where Meghan appeared to ask Dr Chandauka to step away from her husband.

Talking about Meghan’s surprise appearance, Dr Chandauka said: “We would have been really excited had we known ahead of time… but we didn’t. The choreography went badly on stage because we had too many people on stage.”

While the chair of the charity said this looked awkward on camera, it turns out this was not the only awkward interaction between Meghan and Dr Chandauka. At another Sentebale event just a few months prior, Harry's wife Meghan joined the event to support her husband.

However, footage from the match appeared to show Meghan asking Dr Chandauka not to pose next to Harry as he celebrated his win. In footage taken from the day, the Duchess could be seen instructing people on stage after handing her husband a trophy, with Dr Chandauka having been asked twice by Meghan to move to her left side away from her husband.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not commented on Dr Chandauka’s claims from the last few days.
