Prince Harry has dominated royal headlines over the last few days after he stepped down from the Sentebale charity he co-founded almost two decades ago. The Duke of Sussex, 40, resigned as patron of the charity just days ago after the chairwoman rejected numerous calls from those involved with the organisation to resign.

However, following Harry’s resignation, charity chairwoman Dr Sophie Chandauka has started to criticise the prince and has even gone as far as to accuse him of “bullying” - a claim that has been denied. She also said that the prince, who quit royal life in 2020, also once asked her to release a statement in defence of his wife Meghan Markle, 43. Harry reportedly made this request after a charity polo match in Miami last April.

At the event, an awkward moment arose between Meghan and Dr Chandauka on stage after the match. In an exchange captured on camera, Meghan appeared to tell Dr Chandauka to move away from the duke as he celebrated his win.

As shown in the footage, the Duchess was seen asking Dr Chandauka to move to the other side of Harry, with the charity chairman having to duck under the trophy to switch position. This resulted in Meghan Markle receiving negative comments from members of the public.

After the negative publicity the duchess received, a member of Prince Harry’s team initially asked Dr Chandauka to issue a statement dismissing any suggestions of tension between the pair.

However, Dr Chandauka refused and said she did not wish to “become an extension of the Sussex PR machine”.

Harry then reportedly contacted her directly to complain about her actions, with sources describing the message as “unpleasant”.

Sources told The Telegraph that the note was “unpleasant” in tone and used “imperious” language that left the charity boss feeling taken aback.

While the duke is yet to comment on this, the newspaper said that a spokesman for Sentebale confirmed the Duke had sent the message. They said: “This is true. There is a document.”

Prince Harry has not made any official comment over the last few days surrounding any of the claims made against him by charity chairwoman Dr Chandauka. It is not known whether the duke plans to put out a statement on the matter.
