The Chase fans were on the brink of abandoning the ITV quiz show in frustration after a contestant opted for the low cash offer.
Host Bradley Walsh presented another gripping episode on Monday, 31st March, bringing Daniel, Bobbie, Nicola, and Adam onboard with hopes of winning a stash of cash for their varied personal goals, from family visits to new beginnings.
Sizing up to the challenge was Paul Sinha, also known as The Sinnerman, who stood between the hopeful contestants and their prize money.
Despite impressing with his quizzing skills, Daniel's choice to take the cautious route with a £1,000 offer from Paul instead of aiming higher at £6,000 sparked uproar amongst viewers.
Social media platforms buzzed with disgruntled comments from home audiences berating Daniel for his conservative game tactic.
"Yet another week of p****s ruining it and going low early, I've switched it off already what's the point in waiting nearly half an hour now to see them all play for around 8k in total, even flog it looks appealing to watch now and starting in a min. #TheChase," vented one viewer.
Another chimed in: "Teams are normally influenced by the first player, how can you do that what's the point of getting in the chase winning 6k to go low should be ashamed of himself #thechase."
Some die-hard fans even suggested a shake-up of the shows format, proposing the elimination of the low offer entirely to maintain excitement levels, with a viewer asserting: "It's become so boring...just get rid of the low offer #TheChase."
One viewer quipped about the popular quiz show: "The Chase needs to get rid of the low offer option if it wants to keep going - with an audience! ... #TheChase."
Daniel succeeded in reaching the final chase with just £1,000 as teammates Nicola and Bobbie were knocked out in their rounds, reports Bristol Live.
The stakes soared when final contestant Adam bravely decided to take Paul's high offer of £59,000, with viewers on Twitter supporting his bold move.
"#TheChase Take the 59k cos you ain't got nothing to lose," chimed one, while another exhorted: "Yeah go high #thechase," and a third cheered: "Come on Adam!! #TheChase."
Despite the social media encouragement, Adam could not outwit the Chaser and was eliminated, leaving only Daniel in the final round for the £1,000 prize.
With 46 seconds left on the clock, Daniel faced defeat at the hands of Paul and sadly had to leave without the cash.
The Chase airs on weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm
