Christine McGuinness has recently discussed her "difficult split" from ex-husband, Paddy McGuinness, with whom she shares three children: Felicity, who is eight years old, and 11-year-old twins, Leo and Penelope. Despite their decision to separate romantically, the former couple has chosen to continue living together in their expansive Cheshire estate, a property currently listed on the market for a staggering £6.5 million.
This unconventional living arrangement is primarily motivated by their desire to provide a stable and nurturing environment for their children, all of whom are on the autism spectrum. Christine has emphasised the importance of stability and routine in the lives of their children, and living together allows them to maintain that. While the former couple has parted ways in their personal lives, Christine confirmed that Paddy has begun exploring the dating scene again. However, there are clear boundaries set in place; she has made it known that he is not permitted to bring any potential partners back to their shared home.
Speaking on The Shizzio Show's latest episode, Christine revealed that something "unforgivable" had prompted her to separate from Paddy in 2022. However, she admitted she doesn't know if she will ever talk about what happened between them “It was a difficult time. It wasn't something that, you know, I just decided to do overnight or that we chose to do," she said. "We tried, and, yeah, there just, unfortunately, there was no repairing it, you know?"
She continued: "I'll always, always love him as the father of the children, and I still live at home with him, which says a lot. We separated three years ago, and we are completely divorced, and we live in separate parts of the house, but we share a family home." The mum-of-three also admitted that she is still left paying off her £300,00 divorce bill after their split was finalised in 2024. "There were times where it was fine and really civil, and we were agreeing on what we wanted and what we were going to, then there were times where it felt like we were starting all the way back at the beginning."
She added: "It's the biggest bill I have ever paid in my life, and I will say that I paid for my divorce, nobody else." Paddy also recently shared his thoughts on what he seeks in a relationship during an appearance on the Table Manners podcast, hosted by Jessie Ware and her mother, Lennie. He discussed the qualities that make him feel like "putty" in a woman's hands.
Speaking to the duo, Paddy said of his connection with his mother: "Growing up it was just me and my mum and I would see my dad on weekends. She gave up her life for me, and I didn't realise until I was older, after she died. I wish I could have spoiled her rotten. My mum would make pies, big Sunday dinners." And he explained how cooking a dinner really is the way to his heart. "Everyone who makes me something now I am instantly putty in their hands," he confessed. "I'm like, 'this is amazing, this is the best!'"
