The majority of people have experienced at least one awful moment when barbecuing food, and with the sun coming out, many Brits will be looking to cook some delicious burgers in Spring. Gordon Ramsay's brilliant advice could come in really handy. The celebrity chef explained the common mistakes people make that ends up ruining their barbecue meat, and offered valuable advice on how to cook delicious burgers that will catch everyone by surprise.
In a YouTube video for Good Morning America, the chef shows viewers "how to make the most amazing burger". He starts off by seasoning the beef burgers and combining them with an egg. He advises to do the work a day before as setting the burgers in the fridge will leave them "nice and firm" preventing them from falling apart when on the barbecue. Gordon then reveals the key step, uncovering the big error many people make.
He urges people to not place the burgers straight from the fridge onto the hot barbecues as all you'll end up with burgers which are dry on the outside and raw in the middle.
Gorden lets the seasoned burgers "relax a bit" before rubbing some grapeseed oil onto them. He also rolls the burgers so the seasoning can cover the edge before placing them onto the "pipping hot grill."
Gordon revealed another "secret" to viewers - move the burgers "as little as possible" once they hit the barbecue. He says: "The more you move it, the more chance you've got at breaking the burger."
It is also best to keep the lid down to incorporate the heat and prevent it from sticking.
"How many times have you stuck burgers on a grill and wondered why it's sticking? Nicely oiled, quick sear, and put that lid down - it's really important," he emphasises.
Now when it comes to the burger bun, the chef also explains why toasting the bun is the expectation. His reasoning - "We toast the buns because there's nothing worse than a soggy bun.
"How many times have you had a burger and the bun is wet? If you toast that bun, it gets nice and crisp, and it protects the burger."
