Prince Harry would be “welcomed” back to an area in South Africa where a lot of Sentebale charity work takes place, even though he has stepped down as patron of the charity. Despite co-founding Sentebale in 2006 with Prince Seeiso, Harry and several trustees stepped down from the organisation last week following failed calls for the charity’s chairwoman, Dr Sophie Chandauka, to resign.

The Duke of Sussex, 43, has since been on the receiving end of claims made by Dr Sophie Chandauka, who has accused him of “bullying” - claims which have been denied. Despite this, an area of South Africa where a lot of Sentebale charity work to help vulnerable children takes place, is believed to still be fond of the prince, 40, and would welcome him back. Speaking to GB News, the editor at The Reporter newspaper in Lesotho, Neo Kolane said people are shocked at the charity’s latest internal disputes.

Speaking about the situation, Kolane told GB News: "People are in disbelief because the charity has done so much. It came into existence during the HIV crisis, which was a major challenge in this part of Africa.

"The southern part of Africa. So he's very well cared for here. People here have a soft spot for him.

“We definitely still love Prince Harry, despite all the allegations going around on social media. He would be welcomed back in Lesotho."

Prince Harry has a strong fondness for Africa and has visited multiple times as part of his charity work both during his time as a working royal and since he stepped away from royal life in 2020.

The prince last visited Lesotho in October 2024 on a solo visit without his wife Meghan Markle.
