Brits may have enjoyed the recent sunshine across the country in recent weeks, but it’s likely that it has only fueled many’s craving for a holiday. And, with Easter school break and bank holidays just around the corner, those eager to travel might now be on the hunt for last-minute vacation destinations.
Moreover, if you’re worried about popular places getting too crowded this Spring season, fear not, there are still dreamy spots that are known for their quietness. With this in mind, Wizz Air has mentioned Konyaaltı Plajları (or Konyaalti Beach), in Antalya, Turkey, as one of the hidden gems in Europe. The Turkish beach offers a serene escape from the more crowded tourist spots. It is, in fact, one of Europe’s least crowded beaches, in addition to being an affordable destination.
There are numerous direct flights from London to Antalya that cost an average of £165 with various airlines, including Wizz Air, SunExpress, and EasyJet.
Konyaalti Beach is 8.9 kilometres away from Antalya airport, and just a 13 minute taxi drive that costs from £5 to £7.
Konyaalti Beach is located on the western side of Antalya, and stretches for 13 kilometres. According to Wizz Air, there is enough room for nine beach towels per person, making it one of the most relaxed and calm beaches in the continent.
The stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean make it an ideal destination for those seeking a tranquil retreat, Wizz Air states.
During spring (March, April, and May), Konyaalti Beach experiences average temperatures ranging from 14°C to 21°C, with highs reaching 22°C in April and 25°C in May.
This favourable climate, combined with its relatively low profile compared to other beaches, makes Konyaalti Beach a perfect choice for a last-minute getaway without the crowds, as per Wizz Air. The beach is primarily composed of fine pebbles, but also has some sand.
“Konyaalti is a great spot if you look for a little more than just lounging on the beach,” Beach Radar notes. The blog adds: “The old town of Kaleici is nearby in the center of Antalya, where you will find many bars, restaurants, and cafes with plenty of charm.
“There is also the Aquarium and the Aquapark just behind the beach, and there are plenty of watersports you can enjoy, including parasailing, jet-skiing, diving, and more.”
Konyaalti Beach also features free Wi-Fi provided by the municipality, YouTuber TipTop Turkey reveals. In a video, the YouTuber displays the few campers on the beach, mainly Turkish families, who often bring their picnics.
“Konyaalti Beach is rated as [a] blue flag beach which means the water is very clean and it's safe to swim in,” TipTop Turkey further shares.
