A lesser-known seaside town in Wales has been hailed as a "hidden" gem, and one of the best places to visit in the country.
When the weather turns, sunseekers across Britain looking for a coastal getaway often flock to Pembrokeshire, a county in the south-west of Wales known for its multiple beaches and charming seaside towns.
But a lesser known spot on the coast between Aberystwyth and Cardigan is starting to get a lot of attention, and has been listed among Wales' best seaside resorts.
Vale Holiday Parks produced a list of the top 8, including Aberaeron, a charming seaside town known for its colourful habour-facing houses and picturesque views.
According to the outlet, it's "definitely a hidden gem", noting that it was the top ranked Welsh destination in a list compiled by Which? of the best seaside towns in 2021, based on votes by 40,000 readers.
While the overall winner was the Northumberland village of Bamburgh, the Welsh winner was Aberaeron.
The coastal getaway spot began life as a traditional fishing town, the site explains, but is now "establishing itself as a must-visit for foodies, thanks to the wide variety of quality dining options".
Visit Wales singles out Y Seler for praise, describing it as "one of Aberaeron's best rated restaurants, with a cosy atmosphere and specialities including Carmarthenshire mussels, scallops, cod, shrimp and sea bass".
As you'd expect from the location, you can also expect top notch fresh fish and seafood.
There's also an array of independent shops to browse as you take in some sea air.
And while its location on the Ceredigion coast, means it not as easily accessible as the Pembrokeshire coast towns for many people, its being roundly praised for its peaceful and soothing atmosphere.
