A rising comedian has issued a cautionary tale about the perils of cycling under the influence after landing in hospital with an injury.

Steve Stamp, known for his role as Steven Green in the popular sitcom People Just Do Nothing, found himself in a less than humorous situation. The mockumentary sitcom, which he co-created and co-wrote with Allan Mustafa, aired for five seasons from 2014 to 2018 on BBC Three and BBC Two.

The 40-year-old actor, who also collaborated with Allan Mustafa (also known as Anthony 'MC Grindah' Zografoff on the show), is now dealing with a serious incident off-screen.

On Sunday, Steve shared a photo of himself in hospital via Instagram Stories, revealing his arm encased in plaster and an inhaler at his side.

He disclosed that his injuries were the result of an accident on a rented e-bike, captioning the image: "Please don't cycle home drunk on Lime Bikes."

A fan responded to the post, saying: "This reminds me of in PJDN when u ran to the shop and got hit by a car."

To which Steve replied: "Thanks for your kind support."

Steve and Allan have since teamed up again for another comedy series titled Peacock, which has been broadcast on BBC Three since 2022 and released its second season last year. Steve has previously spoken about his experiences in comedy writing.

The series is described as follows: "Andy Peacock, a personal trainer, faces a self-doubt quandary after being overlooked for a promotion at his gym. In response, he starts a class aimed at promoting body positivity within the fitness centre."

Discussing the nature of comedy with Wonderland Magazine, he explained: "Comedy's a mad art form because you're trying to make people laugh, but the immediate people around you have seen you do it like eight times already. So you're sort of having to try and not think about the fact that they're bored of it and still have the same amount of energy to make somebody laugh somewhere. I never want the director to cut at the point where the script finishes. Let's do some weird shit, then cut when the laugh happens."

Steve celebrated his 40th birthday in an adventurous style last year by going skydiving and shared the thrilling experience on Instagram, captioning: "Surprise birthday skydive.

Managed to jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet without soiling myself or fainting but then ruined everything by f**king up the celebratory high five. F**ksake."

He also posted additional photos from his birthday, including one with a nostalgic children's puzzle, and humorously noted: "Learnt how to solve a Rubix cube. Quite a chilled out mid life crisis really."
