Armed police are hunting an "aggressive" XL Bully which is on the loose after they had earlier tried to shoot it. The search comes four days after South Yorkshire Police shot and killed two dogs in Sheffield, Yorkshire, including an XL Bully after they escaped from a garden and allegedly attacked a horse.
In the latest incident, the XL dog went missing after officers searched the property of a man connected to two incidents where gunshots were heard in Sheffield. Inside the property police found two dogs including an XL Bully which they seized and are currently in police kennels, but the third escaped after officers shot at it. The animal is believed to be on the loose in Walkley, Sheffield. Both Daniel Hill Street and Rivelin Road in the city have been cordoned off by South Yorkshire Police.
A man, aged 37, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A spokesperson from South Yorkshire Police said: "We're asking for the public to be vigilant for an XL Bully that could be loose in our communities, or for anyone with information about where it may be being kept to come forward and assist us with our investigation.
"The dog became loose in the Hillfoot area of Sheffield last night, following a firearms discharge.
"Armed officers attended [Daniel Hill Street last night] and upon their entry to the property, an XL Bully became aggressive.
