Meghan Markle will release the first episode of Confessions of a Female Founder on April 8 - followed by seven additional weekly episodes. The Duchess of Sussex, who recently officially launched her lifestyle brand As Ever, will collaborate with Lemonada Media on her forthcoming project.
This is the second attempt at podcasting for Meghan, who signed with Lemonada Media last year. She previously released Archetypes - a podcast where we investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back - in 2022.
Confessions of a Female Founder, which was revealed by Meghan last month, will feature candid conversations with female founders and friends about their business journeys - inclduing Meghan speaking about her own.
In June 2023, Spotify and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they had made a "mutual decision" to part ways on their multi-million-pound exclusive deal.
Speaking ahead of the release of the first episode, one PR expet has seemingly uncovered the real reason why Meghan has decided to give podcasting a second go.
PR expert Rhea Freeman from rheafreemanpr.co.uk has shared that the idea of a podcast "aligns well" with the launch of As Ever.
Rhea - who released a new book titled, 'You've Got This: How to supercharge your business and conquer your goals' earlier this year - told the Express: "I feel like the new podcast aligns well with the launch of her new brand, and also her as a business woman in her own right.
"Although she’s clearly been this for many years, when people introduce physical products or services, people see them as business people in a different way.
"By tapping into her journey and aligning with female founders who are- no doubt- well known, Meghan is placing herself in a different position. Tied to this, there continues to be growth in the female founder space when it comes to a visibility point of view, so I think this podcast is a real symbol of where Meghan is now, where she wants to be, and what’s going on in the world at the moment."
Despite the end of their contract almost two years ago, Spotify have shared the two-minute trailer of Meghan's new podcast. Their caption read: "Join Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to hear the unfiltered stories behind the successes of notable female founders. The show launches April 8th, wherever you get your podcasts. Hit subscribe now so you never miss an episode!"
