The wife of late Hairy Biker, Dave Myers, has released a touching tribute to her husband as she returned to his "special place".

Liliana Myers recently posted a heartfelt message to her late husband as she headed back to his hometown for a very special occasion. Myers, a cherished English TV chef and presenter, gained fame through the Hairy Bikers series with Si King, and charmed the nation with his stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013.

Over a year since his passing, Liliana took to Facebook to share why she recently made an important return to his hometown of Barrow-in-Furness. He was honoured with a very prestigious award, and fans said he'd be "so proud".

In the post, Liliana wrote: "This man continues to surprise me every day! He’s done it again, tonight, Love Barrow Awards, and he’s the star of the evening!

"Thank you Barrow for rewarding his life work in such a meaningful way! Dave Myers - Ambassador Award Winner!"

Since the post was shared, hundreds of people have engaged with it. It's clear that Myers is still very much loved around the world - as well as his hometown.

One person said: "A well deserved honour for a truly amazing gentleman, who did so much for our beautiful town of Barrow." Another wrote: "Simply amazing and so heartwarming. Dave - such a larger than life character, will never be forgotten, a star of the people."

Myers passed away at the age of 66 last year following a battle with cancer, leaving a void that's been felt widely. Earlier this year, Liliana spoke out about her loss, and the public rallied around her, with countless messages of support pouring in on social media.

The culinary journey of The Hairy Bikers first began with The Hairy Bikers' Cookbook, which was filmed in part in Romania. It was here that Myers met the woman who would become his wife; she was a hotel worker during his visit.

Their love story unfolded with time as connections remained strong - even with distance. Then a visit to the UK deepened their bond into romance.

Recalling a poignant memory from 2021, his partner recounted: "I was blown away by one tiny little thing. He picked me up from the airport. It was about midnight and he opened the fridge and he said, 'What do you want me to cook for you?'

"I'd never ever in my life had a man cook for me. So that was the very first thing that just hit me. I was visiting as a friend, but from that moment on my heart just melted."
