Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford has shared a concerning update about her mother's health just months after she was rushed to hospital with a fractured pelvis. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the TV host, 65, revealed that her mother had been hospitalised after falling ill a few days ago.
Sitting by Joan's bedside, Ruth shared an image of her mum's legs covered by a blanket on a hospital trolley and wrote: "Another hospital visit for mum last night... chest infection got the best of her.
"They sent her home after a few hours of care though.....thank you to all the staff at St. Peter's Hospital, Surrey for looking after us so well."
An hour later, she returned to the app to announce that Joan was back at home. Ruth posted a brief clip of her mother beside her on the sofa as their dog, Maggie, kept a protective paw on her leg.
"She's home and a bit brighter today...," Ruth penned. "Nurse Maggie is on watch again!"
Just last month, Ruth issued another update on her mum's health as she revealed Joan was unable to celebrate Mother's Day.
"HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you wonderful mums out there but especially to my amazing Mum Joan. I'm sharing an old video because unfortunately Mum's not well... she's got a nasty chest infection so she's not up to celebrating today," she penned to her followers.
"Maggie and I are with her though and giving her lots of TLC. I'm sure she'll be back peeling the veg, dancing and drinking sherry in my kitchen very soon. Hope you're all having a lovely day with your Mum if you're fortunate, like me, to have her."
Prior to missing Mother's Day, Joan also spent Christmas Day in hospital after she broke her pelvis following a nasty fall.
After an extended hospital stay, Joan, who is also battling Alzheimer's disease, was able to return home in January.
Sharing a sweet video of Maggie fussing over Joan, Ruth exclaimed: "SHE’S HOME!!! Mum is finally out of hospital! Thank you to all the nursing staff at St.Peter’s Hospital and Woking Community Hospital for taking such good care of her."
As their pooch licked Joan's face, she added: "As you can see, Maggie is VERY happy to have her home!"
