Jon Kay was back on TV screens on Tuesday (8 April) on BBC Breakfast alongside co-host Sally Nugent. The two presenters brought the latest headlines to TV viewers, with topics varying from politics to crime.
Jon and Sally shared a very joyful story about the birth of a baby girl in London during Tuesday's episode.
Grace Davidson, 36, gave birth to daughter Amy Isabel on 27 February, making her the first woman in the UK to give birth after a womb transplant. She was diagnosed with a rare condition as a teenager, which meant she did not have a uterus.
Grace's sister Amy Purdie donated her womb during an eight-hour operation in 2023. Baby Amy was born via planned NHS cesarean section.
Consultant transplant surgeon Isabel Quiroga and consultant gynecological surgeon Professor Richard Smith were interviewed on BBC Breakfast regarding the huge medical breakthrough.
"We're seeing a lovely picture of baby Amy Isabel right now. Our hearts are melting. Congratulations to the family, and congratulations to both of you!" Jon exclaimed.
