"We have a number of additional resources dedicated to this investigation.”
Flowers and a teddy bear have been left at the scene.
Locals in the area have been expressing their shock. One neighbour told Manchester Evening News: “It’s terrible. I can’t believe it. It’s so sad.
"If she’s died that’s very sad, but if she’s been killed, it’s even worse. I really can’t believe it.”
Local resident Baba Oreniwa, 41, says the area is normally a "calm" place adding that he he woke up on Monday "to find police all around".
He said: "I was very surprised. Normally it is so calm here and no issues like that.
"So how can this happen? It’s so strange to me for it to happen here with these people and these neighbours. I am very shocked."
