China has furiously hit back at JD Vance, calling him 'ignorant and impolite' after the Vice President's comments about the country's economy.
Mr Vance quipped that the global markets were fuelled by "Chinese peasants", with Beijing issuing a blistering response.
China has been left infuriated as Vance's comments spread like wildfire on the Chinese internet. Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, responded to the remarks during a press conference on Trump's tariffs on Tuesday.
"It's both astonishing and lamentable to hear this vice president make such ignorant and disrespectful remarks," he said.
China remains defiant in the face of Trump's tariffs, pledging to continue its resistance rather than strike a deal with the president on tariffs.
"The U.S. threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake and once again exposes the blackmailing nature of the U.S. China will never accept this," declared the Chinese Commerce Ministry."If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end.
"On Monday, Trump threatened to hike tariffs on China by an additional 50 percent if it did not rescind its 34 percent tariff implemented in response to the president's initial round of tariffs. China protested that Trump's tariff threats were 'completely groundless and is a typical unilateral bullying practice," vowing to retaliate further if the president proceeded with his threats.
If Trump goes ahead, the final outcome would be a 104% tariff on China.
