King Charles joked with a guest at a reception in Italy on Tuesday afternoon. King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, are currently visiting Rome, having embarked on a four-day royal tour in Italy.
This evening, April 8, the King and Queen attended a reception at Villa Wolkonsky, the official residence of His Majesty's Ambassador, Ed Llewellyn. One guest at the reception began talking to the King, recalling the first time that they met one another. After telling the King, "I first met you in Brussels many years ago, we both had brown hair then". The monarch then jokingly replied, whilst pointing to his hair: "Didn't we all".
Lord Llewellyn is also said to have introduced the King to some of the embassy staff who have been working on the royal visit.
He told them: "I’m so sorry you had to be put to all this effort, but thank you."
Queen Camilla opted for a stunning green look for the reception, as well as accessorising with a brooch from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The royal - who will be celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary with the King on Wednesday - pinned a diamond-set Celtic knot design surrounding a cabochon emerald - a royal heirloom which dates back centuries.
The venue for the evening's reception is Villa Wolkonsk, which is also where the royal couple are staying during their visit.
Shortly after arriving in Italy on Monday, the couple received a ceremonial welcome at the Quirinale Palace from the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
He was also joined by his daughter, Laura Mattarella, who acts as the windowed president’s First Lady.
