A notice issued by the Food Standards Agency said: “This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, or with coeliac disease, and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide or sulphites.” Around one in 100 people in the UK are thought to have coeliac disease, an autoimmune condition triggered by gluten intolerance, while others have a lower level of sensitivity.

The notice added: “If you have bought the any of the above products and have an allergy to barley (gluten) and/or sulphites, do not eat them.
