Ewan McGregor is seeking permission for another upgrade to his stunning Perthshire Grade B-listed property. Plans have reportedly been submitted for Glencarse House, purchased by the Star Wars actor for more than £2 million two years ago, to be given a new roof. Perth and Kinross Council are currently reviewing the 54-year-old’s latest renovation plans after claims of a ‘defective’ roof affecting the listed building. It’s understood Ewan wants to replace the lead roof with one made from single-ply membrane and replace existing rooflights, too.
The jaw-dropping mansion is considered one of “Perthshire’s most impressive country houses” and stands in 18.5 acres of stunning parklands and lush green gardens. Purchased in May 2023, Ewan splits his time between the Carse of Gowrie property and his home in Los Angeles with his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Previously, the Golden Globe-winning actor admitted he’d felt he’d “turned [his] back” on Scotland after leaving the country behind to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He also claimed that although he’d moved away from Crieff at 18, he “never lost [his] love for it”.
Pictures show the Glencarse House property in all its splendour. The ten-bedroom property and separate two-bedroom lodge also boasts a wine cellar, conservatory and runs on biomass heating.
Ewan and his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead met whilst working on the third season of FX's Fargo in late 2016. The pair, who share one child, married in April 2022, reportedly said 'I do' in a small outdoor ceremony with close family and friends.
"It was lovely and joyful. The menu was farm-to-table," an insider told People."They are an adorable couple. They are pretty low-key and like their canyon life. They often hike and go to the beach."
