Michaela Strachan has been flooded with support after announcing that she is going to be a grandmother for the first time to not one but two grandkids. The Springwatch presenter took to her official Instagram account to share the heart-warming news with her fans, labelling it a "blessing" and saying that being a grandma is "something she needs to get her head around."
The BBC host recently appeared on the last series of Dancing on Ice before ITV bosses axed it after 19 years. She became the oldest contestant to reach the final at the age of 58 but was beaten to the trophy by Sam Aston.
Posting the exciting news on social media, she wrote, "Surprise, surprise! It seems I am going to get 2 grandchildren this year!! What a blessing. My step son @tchev3000 is expecting a little boy with @finalfinal.jpeg at the end of this month and my step daughter @jadiealice is expecting in Sept with her husband @dale_manning."
She also added, "Dancing On Ice was a chapter of my life that made me feel 10 years younger, so this next chapter, becoming a grandma, is something I need to get my head around!!
"I'm super excited for both of my stepkids and so proud of them. It’s been a year of blessings and joy. At the beginning of January, Jade and Dale had the most glorious wedding. I got to the final of DOI, and we’re expecting not one but two grandchildren.
"Been quite a year so far and we’re only in April!!" [sic]
Many of her followers couldn't help but react to the happy news, with one typing, "Wonderful news congratulations to you all. best thing in the world , being a Grandparent."
A second also commented, "What a wonderful year - congratulations @strachan.michaela." A third person also said, "Congratulations to you all. The babies are very lucky to have such an active, loving grandma."
The Countryfile star was narrowly defeated in the Dancing on Ice final, but admitted that she loved her experience. She said to Lorraine, "I think the win is the fact that we got to the final, I got to the do the Bolero with Mark Hanretty, which I'm just so chuffed about because it was his 12th year and he's never done the Bolero before. The friendship we have created has been so unique and lovely - we're pals for life."
