Jeremy Clarkson has slammed Jeremy Vine, with a cryptic swipe after the Channel 5 presenter praised planned cycling safety changes to a major London road. Vine—a keen cyclist—supported plans to install bike lanes at Holland Park roundabout near the Westfield Shopping Centre at Shepherd's Bush.
However, his opinion has prompted Clarkson to reignite their long-standing feud. Jeremy Vine tweeted to his fans, "I just saw this drawing of the new Holland Park Roundabout. THANK GOD someone is at last taking seriously the safety of vulnerable road users.
“Having a Grand Prix here every day is ridiculous. I’m speaking as one who uses it constantly, and it’s a huge barrier to happy commuting.” However, Jeremy Clarkson then entered the conversation with a brutal dig.
The Clarkson's Farm star replied in the comments section, "I use it frequently too. And it’s fine because I have a car, not a child’s toy." His response sparked over 10,000 likes on X and was greeted with euphoric comments from fans, some labelling Clarkson as "brilliant" and "top tier."
However, not everyone found Clarkson's comment amusing. Camera cyclist Cycling Mikey, who has previously lashed out at Clarkson in an online spat, said to the motor journalist, "You are the child." This led to Vine typing back, "Oh god."
This is not the first occasion where Vine and Clarkson have clashed on opinions.
The Channel 5 host once labelled Clarkson a "muppet" over his criticism of a cyclist but later "regretted" his outburst. He stated, "I was rude to Jeremy Clarkson online once, which I regret. I’d had a drink, and he was cross about a cyclist he’d encountered and saying, 'what’s he doing in my way?'
"I wrote in reply, 'he’s got every right to be there you muppet'. Neither he or I played any further part, but it triggered this horrible war between drivers and cyclists online, which went on for two or three days.
"Sadly, Twitter or X has gone even further down the pan since then. I know if I post something it will get abuse."
