Former royal butler Grant Harrold has revealed an unusual ingredient that King Charles likes added to a cup of coffee. Sharing that the monarch is particularly fond of a cup of tea, much like the late Queen Elizabeth II, Mr Harrold revealed that the 76-year-old is, however, also partial to drinking coffee.
Speaking of how the King would like his tea, he did reveal that the King liked to add honey instead of sugar. Mr Harrold told Coffee Friend: "The King has famously said he prefers to have honey instead of sugar, so he would opt for that instead." Disussing the King's unusual ingredient, he shared, "It actually isn’t too bad!"
Mr Harrold, speaking of other members of the Royal Family, shared: "The late Queen, Prince Philip, and King Charles definitely prefer a cup of tea over coffee. They were tea lovers to the very end.
"They probably had coffee from time to time, but tea was their go-to. The only time I saw the Queen having a freshly brewed cup of coffee was after an event in the evening time."
Claiming that the family would not opt for a hot drink from outside of the establishment, he alleged that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "wouldn’t turn down a trip though".
Speaking of the couple, who are now based in the US, he added, "I’m guessing they would opt for a flat white or a nice cappuccino!"
Revealing what members of the Royal Family tend to enjoy coffee the most, he added: "Queen Camilla is fond of a cup of coffee, as are William and Harry.
"I never heard any of them say they couldn’t live without coffee.
"But Camilla, William and Harry are the ones who love coffee the most within the Royal Family."
