Queen Camilla gave a hint about what she got for her husband, King Charles, to mark their 20th wedding anniversary while on tour in Italy, just weeks after the monarch's sweet gesture of love. The royal couple, who married on April 9, 2005, spent their milestone anniversary touring Rome.
Yesterday, they visited the Italian parliament where Charles gave a landmark speech in both Italian and English, with the Queen paying a sweet tribute to her husband by rewearing the same dress she had on their wedding day 20 years ago. Speaking to reporters in Italy, Camilla said: "Who could believe it was 20 years? What is the secret? I don't know, well, I suppose it's just sort of friendship, really."
The Queen went on: "Laughing at the same things, getting on with life. I suppose doing this (gesturing to the engagement) takes up most of the time."
On when they planned to exchange gifts, the Queen added: "We are going to do that when we get back [to the UK]. We are going to save that.
"Otherwise you can't really, you have to rush it. You don't have time to say anything. No, I think we might dig into our pockets and pull something out at the end of the day."
She added: "Ah yes, well I have got something. Because it's china."
China is often a traditional gift for a 20th wedding anniversary, symbolising the delicate and enduring nature of a long-lasting marriage.
It comes just weeks after it emerged that, in an act of love just before their anniversary, the King purchased a £3million home next to his wife's country retreat in Wiltshire over fears it would be turned into a busy wedding venue and invade her privacy.
Camilla bought Ray Mill House in 1995 to spend quality time with her family away from the public glare.
According to the Mail on Sunday, the King purchased the property opposite it, called the Old Mill, using private funds to maintain Camilla's privacy.
