Northumbria Police issued a new statement in light of the major collision that prompted traffic chaos on the A1 on Wednesday. In the early hours of April 9, five police cars were involved in a collision during a pursuit. 

Seven officers were left injured in the crash, it was shared yesterday. On April 10, the force issued an update on the conditions of the officers, saying two remained in hospital, while another had been discharged.
