Princess Anne officially opened BAE Systems’ Applied Shipbuilding Academy in a ceremony at the company’s Scotstoun site in Glasgow on April 10. As pictures emerged of the Princess Royal's visit, fans expressed their delight when they saw the heartwarming images and only had one thing to say.

One fan commented on Princess Anne placing her heart on her chest and letting out a warm laugh: "I absolutely LOVE this picture of Princess Anne during her visit to the Applied Shipbuilding Academy, today!" Others have rushed to comment on the same photo which sees Anne wearing a vibrant and stylish red jacket.

One wote: "HRH is truly one in a million."

Another said: "Wonderful, admirable lady, and so hard working! She gives me hope … we’re the same age - I wish I had half her energy! I love this terrific woman. She was such a pillar of strength for her mother, our late Queen."

Another added: "It’s a beautiful photo and she looks so relaxed and happy."

One commented: "Very nice photo. A smiley and happy Princess. Love her beautiful smile."

The £12 million training facility, which measures 5,500 square metres and includes more than 30 teaching zones, will provide learning and skills development activities for more than 4,500 employees at the company.

Speaking of the visit, Simon Lister, managing director of BAE Systems’ naval ships business, said: "It’s a tremendous honour to welcome her royal highness to our Applied Shipbuilding Academy to meet with some of our colleagues and see first-hand how we’re developing the next generation of shipbuilders."

Princess Anne visited Glasgow to see the ongoing restoration of a historic Clyde steamer, the TS Queen Mary, which is berthed at Glasgow Science Centre in Govan and was named after Anne's great-grandmother.

She met supporters, volunteers and funders involved in a project to restore the vessel once known as "Britain’s finest pleasure steamer."

Launched in 1933, the Queen Mary was built in Dumbarton by William Denny And Brothers Ltd, with an initial capacity of 2,086 passengers.
