While you might think of Japan when you think of cherry blossom trees, there's no need to fork out and travel so far; we have an incredible display of the beautiful trees right here in the UK.

The Town Gardens in Swindon are famous for their beautiful flower displays and incredible cherry blossom trees which bloom at this time of year.

People who walk through the picturesque green space in the heart of the Wiltshire town will be greeted by a sea of pink.

The spot was previously crowned the best cherry blossom location in the UK and attracts people from around the world taking pictures and posting them to social media. The incredible trees have been in Town Gardens for over 60 years.

If you are looking for something to do this half term with the kids, or a stunning spot to hang out with your partner or friends, a trip to Swindon could be the ticket to a beautiful day. The best part is that you can explore the breathtaking spot for free.

In 2021, South Swindon Parish Council launches Swindon's Cherry Blossom Festival, which is perfectly timed each year for when the trees are in full bloom. It is on now until April 20th and attendees can admire the student gardens, plus enjoy workshops, egg trails, heritage tours and more.

Posting in recent days on Facebook, South Swindon Parish Council said: "The Magnolia blossom around the Town Gardens Bandstand has come into bloom, adding some colour to the grey skies. A few of the younger cherry blossoms have also started blooming. The gardeners have done a fantastic job with this years spring planting, which look stunning."

People cannot get over how incredible the gardens look, after videos and pictures have been shared on social media. A post shared on Facebook page Beautiful Britain recently, by a Swindon resident, left people stunned. Sally Jackson showed the magnificent bright pink colour of the trees, and said: "Cherry blossom and magnolias looking stunning today. Town Gardens, Swindon, Wiltshire."

"Utterly beautiful," commented one. Another said: "Absolutely gorgeous. Would pay to visit this play one day."

One other added: "Life affirming photographs. How very, very beautiful and hopeful, the onset of Spring."

A resident wrote: "Visited today. The grounds people work so hard for so many to enjoy. We’re lucky to have this on our door step."

Another suggested the gardens are "perfect for a wedding". On TikTok, after @huyenjami_hailwood shared a videos of the beautiful trees, one individual wrote: "If somone took me somewhere like this I'd consider it a declaration of love."

"Is the really real?," another said in disbelief.

Visitors should be aware that while there is parking near Town Gardens, it is limited and can often fill up quickly, particularly during Swindon's Cherry Blossom Festival. Alternatively you can get to the spot by getting a train to Swindon Train Station and walking 1.3miles, or getting a taxi to the gardens.
