Louise Redknapp has taken a savage swipe at her former Eternal bandmates – Easther and Vernie Bennett – following a heated fallout over the group’s failed reunion tour and how she was accused of "throwing them under the bus". It comes just days after the singer, 50, revealed she felt "attacked" by the public following her split from ex-husband Jamie Redknapp and their 2017 divorce. Opening up about her struggles during her time in the band, the singer didn't hold back with her thoughts about the group, revealing the damaging effects being in the band had on her mental health.

The mum-of-two, who left Eternal in 1995 to pursue a solo career, admitted she often felt lost and isolated despite public perception. She also revealed that she related to Take That’s Robbie Williams, as both of them experienced feelings of alienation in their respective groups. “We both felt like the odd ones out within our bands. It was nice to know someone else who felt a bit lonely,” she said.

Speaking to The Independent over the weekend, Louise described feeling "really lost" while in the band. She said: "My confidence was low. All I’d ever wanted to be was a pop star, and I was miserable.” While the group got back together briefly in 2023 for a reunion tour, things came to an abrupt halt when Louise's bandmates Easther and Vernie Bennett refused to play certain Pride events and tour dates over objections to trans issues.

Louise told the publication, "There are some non-negotiables in my world," saying how the queer community have supported her since day one. Adding that she believed she would not have a music career without them, and how they really help her in her "darkest moments". Discussing the failed reunion plans, she added: "I have my path, they have their path. For me, it wasn’t a hard decision to make."

Following Louise’s exit from the reunion, her publicist issued a statement reaffirming her stance: “Louise is a huge supporter and ally of the LGBTQ+ community. Both she and Kelle [Bryan] told the duo they would not work with anyone who held these views, and as such, the reunion as a four would not be going ahead.” The statement further noted that the team behind the proposed reunion, including management, PR, and the tour promoter, were all members of the LGBTQ+ community and would not work with individuals expressing anti-trans views.

Eternal’s original manager, Denis Ingoldsby, defended Easther and Vernie Bennett, accusing Redknapp’s team of misrepresenting the situation. “Louise and her team have thrown them under the bus, and everyone is appalled by their bullying behavior,” he claimed. He insisted that the Bennetts had no issue with the LGBTQ+ community. “This is about the debate over the trans lobby and the erosion of the rights of women and children. Vernie expressed concerns about the Pride movement being hijacked, and now Louise’s team is trying to cancel her,” Ingoldsby argued.
