In July 2024, American actress Shannen Doherty died after a tragic battle with breast cancer, which spread to her brain and bones. After receiving her diagnosis, the Charmed star was open about her journey and shared insights about her treatments with fans.

Taking to Instagram in 2023, Shannen shared an emotional message and informed her followers that the cancer had spread to her brain, but she was determined to live with the disease for as long as possible. Among the many public updates about her health, the actress also revealed that she had made plans for her funeral and final resting arrangements. During an episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast, the late star also spoke about her desires for her ashes.

Shannen admitted to her pal, Chris Cortazzo, that she “hadn’t figured out” where she wanted her ashes to be spread and added: “This is such a morbid conversation, but it’s also so fun. I want to be mixed with my dog, and I want it to be mixed with my dad. I do not want to be buried; I want to be cremated."

“I was reading about a thing where you can take your ashes and grow a tree… I have to find a place that my dad and I both really loved, and it meant a lot to us,” Shannen added.

During her final days, the 90210 star was also dealing with a tumultuous divorce with her estranged husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko.

According to court documents via CBS News, Shannen filed for divorce and asked in a court filing that Iswarienko be ordered to pay $15,434 per month in spousal support, retroactive to June 1.

She also requested that he pay $9,100 to help cover her attorney fees and other costs. She said she needed monetary support due to her medical expenses and dwindling residual checks.”

On her podcast, Shannen accused him of prolonging the divorce so he didn't have to pay spousal support. However, after signing the divorce papers the day before her death, Kurt eventually signed the official documents on the day she died.
