If you want to explore France’s gorgeous capital city but you don't have any annual leave left, or your wallet is feeling a little light then don’t panic. There’s a new travel trend that’s sweeping social media and it’s perfect for people who want to travel but don’t have a lot of spare time or cash.
It's called extreme day tripping, and living in the UK means you have better access to it than most. Extreme day tripping is just what it sounds like - you fly in and out the same day and use the daylight hours to see as much of the city as you can. Travel experts at Iglu Cruise have revealed some of the best extreme day trips, and one of their top recommendations is Paris in France.
Just an hour and a half flight from London, Paris is perfect to explore for a day.
You can begin your day early with a trip to the Eiffel Tower, the most iconic landmark in the city - getting in early means you have a better chance of beating all the other tourists to this incredible architectural wonder.
From there, you can cross the Seine River to Trocadéro Gardens, which offers one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
In the afternoon, it’s a great time to visit the Louvre Museum which houses some of the world’s most famous masterpieces, including the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo.
If you’re short on time, just enjoy the Pyramide du Louvre from the outside - it’s a great photo opportunity.
After the Louvre, take a short walk across the Pont des Arts bridge to the Île de la Cité.
Visit the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral, an iconic landmark in the city, which re-opened to the public in late 2024 before finishing your whirlwind day trip.
As evening sets in, you can relax at a Parisian café near Place de la Concorde or along the Seine River.
Alternatively, you could take a Seine River Cruise to see the illuminated landmarks of Paris as night falls before you catch your flight home to sleep in your own bed.
Travel experts at Iglu Cruise said: “Using less annual leave is one of the main benefits, especially for those who struggle to take time away from work. Some people also argue that it can be cheaper than a night out in the UK, as you’re not spending money on accommodation.”
