Meghan Markle has hit a key milestone on Spotify less than a week after the release of her new podcast. On April 8, the first episode of Meghan’s podcast Confessions of A Female Founder dropped, with the second episode set to be released tomorrow. Within days of the launch last week, The Duchess of Sussex, 43, made it in the Apple Podcast charts in both the top 10 category and as the top business podcast.
White the podcast is now proudly sitting at number three in the Apple Podcast business category, it has dropped in the overall Apple Podcast charts and is no longer appearing in the top 20. Instead, the podcast is now becoming a success on Spotify, making it into the top 10 podcast list.
This comes just in time for the release of the podcast’s second episode, which will launch on Tuesday. The first episode surprised royal fans as it saw Meghan sit down and have very open discussions with her friend and Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd.
As well as talking all things business, which saw Meghan open up on some of her concerns around her As Ever brand, the duchess also opened up on a health issue she faced. In the episode, Prince Harry’s wife revealed that she suffered postpartum preeclampsia - a rare condition that occurs when women have high blood pressure, along with excess protein in their urine soon after childbirth.
Speaking on the podcast, Meghan - who quit royal life alongside Harry in 2020 - said to her friend: "We both had very similar experiences — though we didn't know each other at the time — with postpartum, and we both had preeclampsia. Postpartum preeclampsia. It’s so rare and so scary."
The duchess continued: "And you're still trying to juggle all of these things, and the world doesn't know what's happening quietly. And in the quiet, you're still trying to show up for people – mostly for your children — but those things are huge medical scares."
Meghan did not reveal whether she had this condition after the birth of Prince Archie, now five, or Princess Lilibet, three.
She also spoke about other topics that royal fans were not expecting, including about what life looks like daily with her young daughter who currently does just half days at pre-school.
Speaking about balancing parenthood with work, the duchess said in the first episode: "If she (Lilibet) wakes up and wants to find me, she knows where to find me, even if my door is closed to the office. She'll be sitting there on my lap during one of these meetings with a grid of all the executives… I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
The next episode is set to be released on April 15.
