Nigel Farage has condemned Labour for losing touch with its traditional working-class base. The insurgent Reform UK boss taunted the governing party by saying its first leader, Keir Hardie, would be “turning in his grave” at the state of his creation in 2025.

The comments came as a bombshell new poll put Reform ahead in the “Red Wall” of traditional Labour heartland seats. The poll for The Sun found that Reform is now riding high on 30%, up by 12 points since the General Election, while Labour is down from 39% to 27%. In the North and the Midlands, Mr Farage is by far the most popular party leader, 22 points ahead of the Prime Minister and four points ahead of Kemi Badenoch.

Reform also has a 16-point lead over Labour on which party “represents real change” and Mr Farage is ahead on who “can fix immigration”.

Survation, which carried out the poll, warned that Reform is now on course to “cause huge disruption to the status quo across the Midlands and the North”.

Responding to the poll, Mr Farage said the findings are proof that Labour “has lost touch with its traditional supporters”.

He added: “This comes as no surprise when you think about the Government’s record to date.”

Mr Farage accused Labour of breaking its promises on economic growth, with Rachel Reeves’s £40billion tax hike, frozen income tax thresholds and cuts to the Winter Fuel Allowance.

He fumed: “The £1.4billion this saved went to Labour’s friends in the public sector, many of whom work from home.

“Strivers who wake up early and get home late got tax rises from Starmer instead.”

However, the Reform leader said Labour’s “biggest betrayal” of the Red Wall is on immigration, after promising in their manifesto to “smash the gangs”.

He quipped: “The only thing he’s smashing is illegal immigration records. Over 35,000 have crossed the Channel since he came to power.”

“The numbers have risen 46% in 2025 and Sunday was the biggest day for crossings this year.

“Those coming here are mostly young men of fighting age. British taxpayers pay £6million a day to put them up in hotels.

“They get free health and dental treatment. This has to end.”

Mr Farage concluded: “Keir Hardie would be turning in his grave. Labour no longer represents hardworking Brits.”
