Darragh Ennis has opened up on his friendship with his co-stars away from ITV's The Chase. He is one of six brain boxes that appear on the popular Bradley Walsh hosted programme, with Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan filling up the other spots.
But now Darragh, who's ITV alter ego is 'The Menace', has shared that outside of the show the quizzers very rarely socialise together. Speaking on an episode of 'Jaack Maate's Happy Hour' podcast, Darragh was asked whether he and his fellow Chasers ever go on a 'big night out'.
He replied: "Not really, no. So, we all live very different lives, we actually don't see each other that much in the studio."
"Things like award shows, big events like that, we go out together and I went to Jenny's (Ryan) birthday party a couple of years ago, that was great fun, I went to Paul's wedding, even though I hadn't appeared on the show at the point, it was very nice of him to invite me along."
He continued with an explanation, adding: "I live in Oxford, I've got small kids, and Mark lives up in the north, or he lives in the Midlands. We live miles away from each other. We're work friends and we get along and we have a WhatsApp group and we chat to each other, but we don't go out."
He added that he's probably closest to Jenny Ryan. "We're closer in age, so we're a lot younger than the others, so we're in our 40s and they're in their 50s and 60s," he explained. "I'm pretty close to Paul as well, he's a really good guy and he really helped me out.
"And then, I spend a lot of time with Mark actually, because we stay over in the hotel when we're recording (the show) and we kind of hang out and have dinner."
Darragh first appeared on the show as a contestant. He triumphantly beat Paul Sinha in 2017 as he was praised for his stellar performance, but he didn't become one of the Chasers until 2020.
