Marks and Spencer has confirmed its opening hours for the Easter bank holiday weekend.

The supermarket’s larger stores will shut for 24 hours on Easter Sunday but smaller ones will remain open between 9am and 6pm. They will open as normal over the rest of the weekend.

The supermarket told The Sun that the closures are in place "so colleagues can spend time with friends and family".

A spokesperson for the supermarket added: "M&S stores will be open as usual on Good Friday and Easter Monday, the majority between 8am and 8pm."

Opening times will vary by individual store and store size, so be sure to check your local shop for their opening hours this weekend.

M&S is one of the last supermarkets to release their Easter opening hours. Tesco, Aldi, Waitrose and more have already revealed theirs.

All large stores are required to close on Sunday, but most will open as normal or with restricted hours for the rest of the weekend.

Smaller stores, such as Tesco Express, Little Waitrose and Sainsbury’s Local, will remain open, with potentially restricted hours.

Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, and Asda will all close on Sunday but open either normally or with restricted opening hours on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Monday.

The majority of Co-op shops will remain open normally over Easter due to a loophole in restrictions.

In Scotland, supermarkets will open as normal on Easter Sunday as it does not have specific restrictions on operating hours for the day.
