Stacey Solomon has confessed she won’t leave her multimillion pound fortune to the six children she has with husband Joe Swash. Stacey is mum to Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, from two previous relationships, while she shares Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, with Joe. Joe is dad to Harry, 16, from a previous relationship.
But Stacey – with a net worth of around £5million since she started her career on ITV talent show X Factor – is leaving her kids to make their own way through life and wants them to be financially independent. She told The Mirror: “We don't have some sort of inherited wealth that we can pass down for generations. It's really important for them to know that this is our career and we will support our family in whichever way we can, but eventually they are their own person.”
Stacey’s kids have to earn their pocket money by doing chores at their incredible family home, Pickle Cottage.
She added: “My dad didn't treat us any differently, as soon as we got jobs, we had to contribute. I was excited to earn my own money and be financially independent. I want my children to be excited for that too. It's a wider picture of their self-worth and their happiness in general. I want them to feel accomplished and have things.
“It's very difficult to go through life without needing anything or wanting anything. I don't want to leave them in that position.”
Loose Women star Stacey confessed that her kids sometimes make her want to “throw in the towel” when it comes to hounding them to finish their chores, and feels like she’s “always on their backs”.
Her £1.2million home – which includes a pool in the back garden and a luxury Lexus as the family car – won’t be “given” to the kids either – they’ll need to pursue their own careers in future.
