The British Foreign, Development and Commonwealth Office has updated its travel advice page for Spain ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. The Office has advised that travellers headed to the Canary Islands this weekend check their operator's advice and follow the guidance of authorities.
Industrial action is planned in the hospitality sector on the popular island of Tenerife over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Over 170,000 tourism workers are set to take to the streets on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. The walkout follows unions rejecting a pay deal last Saturday (April 12), an agreement that was declared "absolutely insufficient" by Manuel Fitas, spokesperson for the Federación Sindical Canaria (FSC).
