B&M is set to open a number of new stores across the UK this year. The budget retailer has confirmed plans for 45 new sites with 16 locations revealed already.
The news comes despite a drop in B&M sales and a tough start to 2025 for UK retailers. In a trading update last week, the business revealed its sales across the UK fell by 3.1% to £4.5bn in the year to March 29. Meanwhile, they were down 2.4% in the last 12 weeks of the year.
However, new store openings in France have helped to offset the weaker British performance. The wider B&M group unveiled a 3.7% increase in sales to £5.6bn in the year.
A host of new stores will now open across the UK in a matter of weeks. They include sites in Leicestershire, Tunbridge Wells, Portishead and Doncaster.
Retailers across the UK have endured a difficult start to the year after being hit by a number of risings costs. As well as a hike in energy costs and rent, Chancellor Rachel Reeves has increased employer national insurance contributions and the national minimum wage.
A number of major brands, including WHSmith, Sainsbury's, Iceland and Homesense have already closed stores this year. Meanwhile, Sports Direct, FarmFoods and Aldi are set to shut sites this month.
