US President Donald Trump appeared to back down in his long-running feud with China over trade as he told reporters he will make a "very good deal" with Beijing.
Speaking as he met at the White House with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, Trump was also asked if Washington should be worried about allies looking to build closer ties with China, replying simply: "No."
It comes after the Republic unveiled blanket tariffs of at least 10% on allies and foes around the world on April 2.
International stock markets immediately tumbled, and the President U-turned on the move only days later, pausing most of the tariffs for 90 days.
