Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once had a "very saucy" date during the early days of their relationship, according to the duke himself. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex began dating sometime in 2016 and they ended up marrying two years later, in May 2018.
During the early days of their relationship, the pair tried to keep their private life a secret. Prince Harry opened up about the time when he and Meghan started seeing each other in his memoir, Spare, which was released in January 2023.
In one section of the book, the Duke wrote about how the two were planning a meal together with their friends and had to get the ingredients for it without people recognising them.
The Sussexes decided to visit a Waitrose after spending the night together at Soho House, in London.
Harry wrote in the book: "Of course we couldn’t actually go to Waitrose together: that would cause a riot.
"So we drew up a plan to shop simultaneously, in parallel, and in disguise, without visibly acknowledging each other.
"Meg got there minutes before me. She wore a flannel shirt, a bulky overcoat and a beanie, but I was still surprised that no one was recognising her.
"Also, no one looked twice at her trolley, which was filled with her suitcases, and two large Soho House bags containing fluffy dressing-gowns she’d bought for us on checking out."
He added: "Equally anonymous, I grabbed a basket, walked casually up and down the aisles. Beside the fruit and veg I felt her stroll past me.
"Actually, it was more a saunter than a stroll. Very saucy. We slid our eyes towards each other, just an instant, then quickly away."
