A man sustained serious injuries and later died after a car was "deliberately driven at" him in South Liverpool. Another man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder. The incident took place around 11.45pm on Friday. The 47-year-old was rushed to the hospital, but he later died of his wounds. A 41-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and officers are appealing to any witnesses to come forward while they investigate.
Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: “Our investigation into this incident is in its very early stages, but it does appear the car was deliberately driven at the man.
“People who live on the road came to his aid but despite their best efforts and those of paramedics, he sadly passed away in hospital. Our thoughts remain with his family at this tragic time and specially trained officers are supporting them.
“We have launched an investigation into what happened and we have already arrested a suspect and seized the car we believe was involved.
“Our officers are continuing to carry out inquiries at the scene and studying CCTV footage to establish the full circumstances.
“I appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident and any residents living locally who might have CCTV showing the incident, to please get in touch. Every piece of information is vitally important to our investigation and could help us establish what happened so we can provide answers for his family.”
