Meghan Markle was warned that if her latest business ventures fail to grab the attention of the American population, then she will be faced with a new "problem". The Duchess of Sussex launched a series of business ventures this year, including her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, her lifestyle brand, As Ever - which currently only ships to the US and her podcast series, Confessions of a Female Founder.
But despite her show climbing on Netflix's global Top 10 list as well as her podcast making it in the top 10 chart in all categories on Apple Podcasts, the reviews for her ventures have been mostly scathing. The Sun's Matt Wilkinson said: "It's [Meghan's podcast] very US-focused. I think all her guests are mainly based in America so far. But I think the American media have mainly ignored it. I'm led to believe that it's not really being picked up by the American media, which surely would be her target if she was moving into that sphere."
Royal correspondent Sarah Hewson replied: "If America isn't buying into this brand, then they've got a problem."
Meanwhile, GB News's Cameron Walker questioned: "Does that suggest then that the British audience, you know, are very much loving to hate Meghan and perhaps by extension Harry, and the US just don't care anymore?"
He added: "Although the reviews are bad, people are still watching it.
"So the question is going to be, are people watching it because they love to hate it or do they genuinely enjoy watching it or listening?"
Meghan's new eight-part podcast with Lemonada Media promises "girl talk" and advice on how to create "billion-dollar businesses".
It follows the duchess's much-criticised Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan and her new brand As Ever, which sold out of its first batch of raspberry spread, flower sprinkles and herbal tea.
