The A2 is currently closed westbound following a crash, causing long delays in the area and on the M25.
In a travel alert on its website, National Highways said the "A2 westbound is closed in Kent due to an collision resulting in an overturned car".
The government-owned company which operates, maintains and improves motorways and major A roads in England, said all Kent emergency services are on the scene, and National Highway's traffic officers are assisting with road closures.
Kent Fire Service has requested a full closure over concerns about an electric vehicle involved, the firm says.
