Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans has escaped to Dubai with his partner for a sun-soaked getaway following a new wave of criticism over his behaviour during his time on Strictly. The 53 year old Go Compare star was axed from the BBC Strictly tour after making an unsavoury "spit-roasting" joke about professional dancer Janette Manrara at the Birmingham launch show.
Wynne, who faced previous allegations of inappropriate conduct with his dance partner Katya Jones, has now been caught up in yet another controversy. This time, it involves EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick and a sex toy presented as a prank gift.
A recently surfaced video showcasing a prank involving Wynne and Jamie, which included a sex toy, caused a stir after BBC chiefs reportedly issued a stern warning to the duo regarding the footage. It is alleged that this offensive video circulated within the Strictly celebrity contestants' WhatsApp group.
An insider revealed: "As soon as BBC executives were made aware of this shocking and immature footage being shared they formally addressed the issue and reminded the pair they had to act professionally."
This incident reportedly occurred just two days after Wynne was recorded making a lewd sexual remark directed at Jamie concerning pro dancer Janette Manrara, reports the Mirror. After facing a backlash over a controversial sex joke, Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans was seen arriving at Heathrow Airport on Friday morning with his partner Liz Brookes. The couple looked set for a romantic getaway to Dubai.
Wynne dressed comfortably in a navy t-shirt, grey hoodie, and blue jeans, while Liz embraced the spring vibe in a patterned skirt, black t-shirt, and denim jacket. Engrossed in conversation, they navigated the terminal with matching blue suitcases, heading to the First Class check-in desk.
Despite trying to maintain a low profile, Wynne seemed subdued amidst fresh allegations about his conduct during his time on Strictly.
A source revealed: "Wynne's had a lot on his plate lately this holiday couldn't come soon enough. He's keeping tight-lipped about the BBC situation, but it's clear there's a lot going on behind the scenes."
Amidst the turmoil, reports suggest Wynne is considering legal action to seek "recompense" for the severe impact of the scandal on his career.
His troubles were compounded last month by rumours that he has lost his long-standing advertising contract with GoCompare, which he has held since 2009.
Despite the controversy, Wynne still has some allies, including his Strictly dance partner Katya Jones, who recently praised him as "incredible" in an interview.
In an intimate chat with The Sun's Fabulous magazine, the star opened up: "I can only obviously speak from my personal experience, but I thought Wynne was incredible. We spent a huge amount of time together and we had a brilliant partnership. We got on like a house on fire."
She continued to express her positive experiences: "Wynne has never made me feel uncomfortable in any way. We've had the most incredible time together, which no one can take away from us."
