Tucked away in Suffolk is a charming British town that has recently been named the happiest place to live by RightMove. The town of Woodbridge made the list for the first time in December. The survey, which has been running for 13 years, asks 35,000 people what they love (or don’t love) about their hometowns and compiles the answers to find out where people are the happiest.

Woodbridge’s crown is well earned - this town scored high for its friendliness, sense of community and excellent essential service like healthcare and education. Woodbridge is also on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful scenery in England.

With the National Trust property of Sutton Hoo less than a ten minute drive away, there’s plenty to explore. From the ancient burial mounds to the rolling countryside, this gorgeous spot is perfect for a day out.

There’s also the River Deben which runs alongside Woodbridge which offers a number of beautiful walking paths.

One of the most popular is the Woodbridge to Martlesham Heath route, which takes you along a breath-takingly beautiful stretch of the riverbank. Over the 3 mile walk you’ll see woodlands, fields and traverse the bridge to the historic village of Martlesham. 

If you’d rather cruise down the river than walk alongside it. Woodbridge offers that too. Deben Cruises offers a two hour trip down the river. This family business runs two trips a day between May and October - and even better, the boat is all weather, so conditions can’t spoil your trip.
